Counseling

★ (out of five stars)

(What on earth are CPAIP and NACM?  I've looked them up and could only find CPAP machines and the National Association of Cider Makers LOL  I don't think she's either of those....but maybe??)

I'd been seeing Stephanie for around 6 months weekly & she only ever gave me any actual "therapy" ONE time. She kept trying to pedal her EMDR crap & I hated it. Half of our appointments were her talking for 30 min. about some "story" she related to what I was going through that happened to her or someone she knows, which sounded like exaggerations & totally fabricated (that I later found out were exactly that). All of her real-world "advice" was usually 100% wrong.  Like to the point I realized she was lying to me.  Like, I was talking about getting my mother's license revoked (due to dementia) and she told me all these things I could do to get that done, and none of it existed or was even remotely real. The same goes for all sorts of other issues I was having.  She'd tell me these tall tales and when I found out they were all lies, I asked her about them, and she'd deny ever saying those things to me.  I had to check to see if she even had a legit license.  It was like this huge game she was playing with me.  Another thing she'd do is talk shit about her other patients to me, which I found scary.  What was she telling others about me?  All of our sessions were spent talking about her, with a little about me thrown in.  I have no idea why I kept going.  Eventually, she was giving me migraines with her EMDR, so I had to stop going.  But I should have been smart enough to walk away long before that.

I give her one out of five stars rating and a D- grade as a therapist.  I give her hone star because she was entertaining, so that was nice.  I never walked away feeling bad about myself.  Confused at times, but not bad about myself.

We did in person sessions only.
